On Sunday, January 19th, 2025, the Suffolk County Volunteer Junior Firefighters Association held a general meeting at the Selden Fire Department. Breakfast began at 8 am and was served by the Selden Fire Department Junior Company. The meeting began at 9 am with a presentation from Paws of War, a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to veterans and first responders. The organization rescues and reunites animals for deployed troops as well as trains service animals to support their companions. Members of the SCVJFA were able to interact with the dogs as well as see how they operate alongside their owners. During the meeting, members discussed upcoming events, fundraising, and recruitment ideas. The SCVJFA would like to thank Paws of War for their visit as well as the Selden Fire Department recreational committee for preparation of breakfast.
